Yusuf gives first LA performance in three decades

Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, returned to an LA stage for the first time in 33 years on Monday (5/11), performing songs from his new "Roadsinger" album and classics such as "Where Will the Children Play" and "Peace Train."

Album Review: Yusuf Islam, "Roadsinger (to warm you through the night)" (UMe)

The second pop outing for Yusuf Islam brings him closer to his former self as Cat Stevens while asserting a clearer mission for Yusuf as a 21st century performer. 'Roadsinger' is not only the second album from the writer of 'Wild World' and 'Peace Train' devoid of any Muslim teachings or mentions, it's the work of a man at peace with his place in life and music. It's an honest record, filled with performances that are warm and graceful, an elegant follow-up to his early A&M albums such as 'Teaser and the Firecat.'
