March 10, 2005 - Although Isis is primarily an instrumental band, it is one that mainstream listeners can easily swallow. Intermittently twinkling and dirge-y guitars line the hypnotic melodies that fill the group's third and latest album, "Panopticon." Songs like "Altered Course" are reminiscent of early Tool, and, in fact, Tool bassist Justin Chancellor worked with Isis--vocalist/guitarist A. Turner, drummer A. Harris, bassist J. Caxide, guitarist M. Gallagher and electronics/guitarist/vocalist B.C. Meyer--on the song. --Christina FuocoPerforming Friday, March 18 at 12:45 a.m. at Emo's Annex (600 Red River St.)
