Arab Strap--which takes its name from a sexual device that keeps a man's penis erect--functions outside the realm of pop. Their music is moody, raw and the vocals come across more as spoken word than singing. The core of the group--singer-lyricist Aidan Moffat and guitarist Malcolm Middleton--started doing their thing in the Scottish town of Falkirk in 1995.

Arab Strap takes to the road in February

LONDON--Modern folk duo Arab Strap has announced a seven-date mini-tour of the U.K. for the end of February. The tour of midsize venues will commence at Liverpool University on Feb. 22 and finish at the Arches in Glasgow on Feb. 28.
