'Less is more' is generally a pretty good rule for Stephen Malkmus to try to follow; on 2008's 'Real Emotional Trash,' he turned the amps and guitar freakouts up to eleven and produced a grueling document that lived well up to its title. There's nothing wrong with it at all, but it's a hard record to listen to more than once or twice. Listening to it is like watching someone destroy their apartment. Noise Pop details announced

San Francisco's Noise Pop Festival, which will take place Feb. 24-March 1 at venues throughout the city, will feature Stephen Malkmus making his Noise Pop solo debut. The 17th annual fest also will feature Josh Ritter, Martha Wainwright, Antony & The Johnsons, No Age, A.C. Newman, Clues, St. Vincent, French Kicks, Ra Ra Riot, Broker West, The Morning Benders and The Submarines, according to a press release.
