Minnesota native Prince is showing pride in his local football team with the unveiling this week of a new Minnesota Vikings fight song dubbed “Purple and Gold.”

The eccentric, oft-reclusive pop star—who was spotted in a skybox at the Metrodome in Minneapolis last weekend, where he watched the Vikings dismantle the Dallas Cowboys—told Minneapolis TV station Fox 9 on Thursday that he “saw the future” during the game, and decided to pen the song. The song is firmly in the tradition of fight songs, and is free of the Purple One’s trademark funk sound.

The Vikings will face the New Orleans Saints for the NFC championship on Sunday; the winner of that game will earn the right to play in the NFL’s Super Bowl on Feb. 7.

The song’s lyrics, as published in “Prince’s signature idiosyncratic spelling” by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, are:

the veil of the sky draws open / the roar of the chariots touch down / we r the ones who have now come again / and walk upon water like solid ground / as we approach the throne we won’t bow down / this time we won’t b denied / raise every voice and let it b known/ in the name of the purple and gold / we come in the name of the purple and gold / all of the odds r in r favor no prediction 2 bold / we r the truth if the truth can b told / long reign the purple and gold / the eyes say ready 4 battle / no need 4 sword in hand / we r all amped up like a rock n roll band / ready 2 celebrate every score / ready 2 fight the elegant war / ready 2 hear the crowd roar
